When the monk was locked in his cell
he saw a butterfly on the wall

      Jovan Strezovski, a poet, short story writer, novelist, translator. Born 26th April 1931 in the village of Podgorci, Struga. Graduated from the Faculty of Philosophy in Skopje. Worked as a primary and secondary school teacher in the district of Struga. Also as a journalist with Radio Skopje. Long time director of the international Struga Poetry Evenings Festival. Member of the Macedonian Writers' Association since 1960.
